Russ Duerksen
Russ’ love and respect for the outdoors and its wildlife began when he was very young. While growing up in small towns, he and his brothers spent much of their time exploring nature. He also worked on his grandparent’s farm most summers in his youth. These experiences inspired him to sketch what he viewed and eventually transform those ideas into paintings.
Russ entered many art competitions with his paintings adorning eight state waterfowl and habitat stamps of various states plus many prints for conservation groups. He has also received numerous top awards at Art Shows throughout the years.
“After finishing a creation whether it is an acrylic painting, pencil drawing or a combination of both, I look forward to sharing it with others to get their reaction. When people view my artwork, I want them to feel like they can identify with it or bring back fond memories of their own outdoor experiences. That’s when I feel the painting is successful.
