Editorial Policy and Standards

Ledgebay is a shop that publishes painting guidance. We are not a magazine and we do not pretend to be one. This page sets out what we do and do not do, so you can judge what you read here.

How we check facts

Before we publish a claim about a named person, a date, a study, an artwork, a price or a product specification, we check it against a primary source. If we cannot verify something, we cut it rather than soften it.

Where a specific claim rests on a particular source, we link to that source so you can check it yourself. We do not cite sources we have not read.

Who writes this

Articles here are published by Ledgebay. We do not attribute them to invented authors or credit fact-checking staff who do not exist. Where an article draws on the experience of our customers, it is because they wrote it in a review, and we quote them in their own words.

We use AI tools to help draft and edit. That does not lower the standard: every factual claim is verified against a source before it is published, and anything that cannot be verified does not run.

Images

We use our own product photography, artworks that are in the public domain, and stock images licensed for commercial use. We do not use images we do not have the right to publish, and we do not claim to have made images we did not make.

Where an image shows a finished painting by a customer, it is published with their permission.

When we are selling to you

Most articles here mention our kits somewhere, because we make them. We try to be plain about which parts are guidance and which parts are us selling something.

We also try to tell you when a product is not right for you. Some of our designs are genuinely difficult, some customers find the printed numbers hard to read, and a paint by numbers kit is not a substitute for medical or psychological treatment. We would rather say so than have you find out after ordering.

Older articles

A large part of this blog was written years ago under different standards, and some of it does not meet the ones on this page. We are working through it, correcting what is wrong and removing what cannot be supported. That is an ongoing job and we are not finished.
